Prof. D. Srinivasa Rao is a distinguished academician and researcher with over 34 years of expertise in Mechanical Engineering. He currently serves as Professor of Mechanical Engineering and Dean, School of Engineering and Technology at Centurion University of Technology and Management, Vizianagaram, Andhra Pradesh.
He obtained his Ph.D. from the National Institute of Technology Karnataka (NITK), Surathkal, and his M.Tech from the prestigious University of Roorkee (IIT Roorkee), where he was awarded the University Gold Medal for standing first in his program.
With a rich blend of teaching, research, and administrative leadership — including a tenure as Principal of an autonomous engineering institution — Prof. Rao has profoundly contributed to the academic and research landscape of Mechanical Engineering in India. His core expertise spans functional graded materials, smart materials, additive manufacturing, and surface engineering.
He is recognized as a doctoral supervisor by both JNTUK-Kakinada and Andhra University, Visakhapatnam, and has mentored over 80 UG/PG projects and 3 doctoral scholars.
Design and development of FGM structures with spatial composition gradation to tailor physical and mechanical properties. Includes accurate modelling and optimization techniques.
Synthesis and characterization of Cu-Al-Ag-Mn quaternary shape memory alloys; investigation of thermal, microstructural, and tribological behaviour.
Fabrication and mechanical characterization of 3D printed functionally graded polymeric components; effect of infill density and process parameters on properties.
Tribological properties of ABS/polymer components; ball burnishing of HSLA dual-phase steels; surface hardness, wear resistance, and corrosion studies.
Mould dilation characteristics of synthetic green sand using natural river sands and banana peel powder as alternative additives.
Experimental investigation on compact loop heat pipes with low thermal conductivity wicks for advanced thermal management applications.
